Energy Sources: Windpower |
COLD
FUSION In 1989, two chemists named Martin
Fleischmann and Stanley Pons were tinkering on an experimental apparatus
designed to probe for sustained atomic reaction. One day they registered results that led
them to believe that they had actually achieved a sustained
reaction. Having jumped the gun on announcing their experimental
findings, they were unable to reliably reproduce the results and lost
much of their scientific credibility. In fact, both scientists were chastised as scientific frauds. The Pons Fleischmann effect is not well
understood and it cannot be consistently reproduced; however, it is not a
fraud. The apparatus in question is
a heavy water electrolyzer using palladium electrodes. Increased levels of energy as well as
new elements have now been verified to result from the experiment: http://www.newenergytimes.com/Library/1996StormsE-HowToProducePonsFleischmannEffect.pdf
A sustained atomic reaction that can produce excess energy is often referred to as fusion. These days, governments around the world are investing millions of dollars to come up with "the" energy solution in the form of hot fusion. Should we as a civilization discover the key to unleashing cold or hot fusion, it is unlikely mankind would ever have to worry about energy again. The following websites are devoted to the subject of cold and hot fusion. http://home.netcom.com/~storms2/, http://www.frascati.enea.it/nhe/index-eng.htm, http://www.ornl.gov/info/ornlreview/v37_2_04/article05.shtml, , http://fire.pppl.gov/, http://torsatron.tripod.com/, http://www.padrak.com/ine/index.shtml#NICONF96, http://www.lenr-canr.org/, If you are uninterested in reading through all of the above websites, these sites would ultimately tell you that the scientific community is approaching the milestone of "break-even" fusion. Some experts anticipate fusion energy production may be nearing reality for limited quantities and qualities of energy. The new buzzword project dedicated to hot fusion is a joint effort in the world's scientific community known as the ITER Project. http://fire.pppl.gov/iter_us_news.html. There is also a side track effort happening in the area of ultrasonic vibrations. The vibrations create a water bubble collapse that registers a horrific compression in the nuclei of the bubble, a considerable temperature is reached in the microscopic nuclei. The effect emits light energy that is called sonoluminescence. Should bubble temperatures become hot enough, atomic fusion will occur. More can be read on this phenomenon and how it relates to cold fusion at the following websites: http://www-phys.llnl.gov/N_Div/sonolum/, http://www.techmind.org/sl/, http://www.physik.tu-darmstadt.de/~hofu/paper/boosting/main.html, http://www.physics.ucla.edu/Sonoluminescence/, http://physicsweb.org/articles/news/9/3/3/1, http://www.scs.uiuc.edu/suslick/execsummsono.html, http://www.zpenergy.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=1412
